5 Random Friday Finds

Find No. 1

My new glasses came in this week. I am pegging these my Ira glasses, because I am a huge fan of Ira Glass from NPR's This American Life, and in the You Tube video I love to watch of an interview he did, he has on similar glasses. I also love ephemera and I found these trail guides from our 2003 trip to Acadia National Park when I was organizing and filing some past vacation information.

Find No. 2

This week's assignment for our 50mm class was landscapes. Not a lot of landscapes that aren't buried under a mountain of snow right now. I went to the beach and found this barren landscape.

Find No. 3

Stuck inside on yet another snow filled day, I went searching through some of my Grandma's sewing notions that I inherited when she passed away. I found this J&P Coats wooden spool. LOVE! The pin cushion my daughter made in her high school sewing class.

Find No. 4

I am getting too old for Cross Country Skiing. My body is still recovering from last week's trip.

Find No. 5

Well groomed ski trails are pretty though.

My new glasses look much like yours, only with black on the top. I'm thinking they are all the rage, because I'm seeing them all around blog-land. :)

Beautiful images. Cool glasses. Your landscapes are gorgeous. What fun to have your Grandmother's sewing notions. Sweet memories! I could probably still do cross-country ... but not down hill anymore -- way past that! Stay warm!

Ira Glass Glasses??? YOU are Marvelous!!! (I like BOTH - HIM and Your New Specks.)
Your photos are riveting . . . today i especially enjoy the sewing notions . . i think it's the splash of color on a cold day.

Happy Friday!!!

That's a super shot for the landscape. I've been taking that class too but haven't gotten out much this week. Too cold and too much snow.

That's a beautiful landscape shot! I like those glasses, too. I need to upgrade my reading glasses. That's neat that you have your grandmother's sewing notions.

I like the way you have a photo for each random. They are beautiful! Hang on to that wooden spool. I've seen them on sale for big bucks! Who would have thought, huh? I wish we had snow here. Our winter's are brown and ugly.

Great photos and I love the Ira glasses! We are taking the kids on their first snow ski lesson in a couple of weeks, I am already anticipating the soreness!

Oh, I love that landscape shot...it is really awesome. I could see that on a greeting card.

That's a lot of snow ! I haven't seen a single snow flake yet !

A gorgeous landscape shot!

I am a fan of a well-groomed trail!

Absolutely LOVE the ombre glasses (thinking it is time to venture out and get a new pair myself) and who doesn't like a well-groomed trail (with and without skis --- been too many moons since I did some cross-country). Enjoyed your finds this week.

Cool glasses, love your grandma's sewing notions, and love your landscape shot. We had a winter storm warning last night into this morning and I was so hoping for some snow...no luck...but they did get it north of us.

Diggin' your new glasses! I love old sewing notions, and I have more than my fair share, it's true. Not a fan of any kind of skiing. It hurts too much. I can muster sledding and ice skating, but hiking and snowman building is my forte in the winter months. Stay warm! Aloha

Nice that you have snow. We didn't get a single snow flake over Christmas...in either country! Love grandma's sewing treasures. I have some from my grandma too; including her Singer sewing machine...the one you peddle to start. It's fun to try to sew on it, but I'm a bit useless at sewing. :) Hope you have a fantastic weekend.

Love your winter finds. Great shots!

Lovely, lovely photos, fun post. Love those glasses! I only managed one landscape photo this week. I simply cannot find a suitable portrait-orientation photo in this winterscape around here. I should have done this class in one of the other seasons! Have a great weekend!

I think snow shoes will be the answer for me! Great images Sarah!

Great random 5! My body hurts just thinking about even thinking about skiing! good for you though Sarah. I LOVE that baron seascape. I feel bad about all my bloogy friends with such frigid weather. And who doesn't LOVE old spools of thread!

visiting via Nancy and enjoyed your responses. I haven't been to Acadia in donkey's years but loved it when I was there...back in the dark ages of the 1960's..

I just got new xskis, and I know I'm older than you! You new glasses and mine are similar. I'm still getting used to the black frames on me. Love that snowy beach shot - perfect!

You look like you're acing your 50mm class! That landscape is gorgeous! I also inherited my grandmother's sewing tin. I love her old buttons and wooden spools of thread. I can't imagine cross country skiing...I can't imagine any kind of skiing!

Kim said...

I love that second image! It is gorgeous!

Unknown said...

I'm waiting to see the selfie with the glasses! Love the beach shot! I'm hoping to try cross country skiing next winter break. I was hoping that would be a better alternative than me flying down the mountain and having to fall to the side in order to stop!

Nice Five, Sarah ~~ I remember those J&P Coats wooden spools of thread. Us. kids used to play with the empties. Your landscape turned out prettiy. Very barren indeed. I am too old to ski also. I used to dream of becoming a ski bum when I go old as free lift tickets sounded really good (along with half price lodging). Now I know.
Thanks for visiting my five and for your nice comment. I like my friend's old Ford too.
